In 1994, God began to plant in the hearts of several believers in Lorain County a need for a Biblically based, Discipleship centered church: A ministry with conservative Biblical doctrine, dynamic relevant worship and a commitment to the leadership style, passions, and purposes laid out in the New Testament.
In September 1994, this vision became a reality. A group of about thirty people met in a home to seek the Lord and Trinity Evangelical Free church was born. Church services continued in that home until God provided a small vacant dance studio for exactly what we could afford. Here, God began adding to our family, sovereignly providing the people with the gifts necessary to continue the vision given us. In September 1996, God provided us with a pastor. We quickly outgrew our little home and God provided the vacated post office in downtown Amherst. This was our home until God moved us into the old American Legion building in May of 1999. Since 1999, we have been blessed with continued growth and with a large addition currently used as our sanctuary.
As we continue to look to the future, we rejoice in God’s gift of a wonderfully shepherding senior pastor, Dr. Arnold Fleagle. Under Pastor Arnie’s capable leadership there are many growth initiatives being considered (among which are additional pastoral staffing, church facility expansion, church planting, growing mission support and participation).
EXPLANATION OF THE TRINITY LOGO
Jeremiah 17:7-8 says, “Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like a tree planted along the riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they go right on producing delicious fruit.”
It is the desire and prayer of the leadership of The Trinity Evangelical Free Church and our Family that we will be a family of men and women who grow up together like this tree in Jeremiah 17 under the planting, power and direction of God through the Holy Spirit. We simply desire for God to grow our church as He does every tree we come across daily. As we delight in our relationship with Him and we come to know Him more intimately each day, we believe that God will make us like the mighty Oak who, although living through times of easy growth as well as times of harsh season, NEVER withers!
